ECOFIN Investment Consulting AG
The Swiss based ECOFIN Group (ECOFIN) is a solution provider for banking and finance, retirement provisions, asset management for institutional investors and sophisticated private clients.
Solution provider for banking and finance
ECOFIN Investment Consulting AG, an affiliate of the ECOFIN Group, has been assisting large pension funds and other institutional clients in searches for external investment managers since 1992. Each year ECOFIN advises her customers on the allocation of substantial sums of money to investment managers in Switzerland and around the globe, offering a wide range of different asset classes and types of mandates.
The selection process
A key element of our well-established selection process is the initial screening of investment management firms and their products. For this purpose ECOFIN has created PMDB Online, our online Portfolio Manager Data Base.
PMDB Online
PMDB Online allows investment managers to enter and update their information at their will, thereby taking over the responsibility for the content and the timeliness of the information.
The goals of PMDB Online
PMDB Online pursues the following goals:
To enable ECOFIN to create longlists based on data that is up-to-date and accurate.
To enable investment managers to update information on their products, teams and the investment processes in shorter time intervals and at their will, especially when a manager search is imminently forthcoming.
To offer investment managers more ease at filing the information and submitting proposals, thereby reducing their cost substantially.
The purpose of PMDB Online within ECOFIN’s search process
The information acquired via PMDB Online is used to generate our longlists. In this first stage this is the main use of the data, i.e. it is neither disclosed directly to the side of investors nor to the general public.
Quality of ECOFIN searches
Of course the quality of our searches shall not be diminished by standardized or automated searches. ECOFIN will continue to add value to your information by matching it to the specific needs of our customers, utilizing our long-term experience. After creating a longlist based on PMDB Online a rigorous RfP (Request for Proposal) process follows. In case one of your products has been shortlisted you will be asked for submitting a proposal.
In order to save both you and us time the information already provided in our database is considered an integral part of the proposal. Hence the number of questions in the proposal can be reduced considerably. Of course it is a prerequisite for this more convenient procedure that your data in PMDB Online is up-to date and accurate. In our request for proposal we will explicitly ask you to check your data with respect to the actual tender.
